How John Got Started
Over the years I have used weight training to supplement rock climbing and martial arts. More recently trained just to keep in good shape and stay fit. I am proud to still being able to get it 32 in waist pants! The same as when I was 20.
I am way older than most you who will be reading this and started weight training before the word Internet was even invented! We did not even think about getting ‘ripped’ because that word had not been invented either. We drank milk lots of it, eating consisted of eggs, eggs, and chicken if you where lucky then even more eggs and handfuls of desiccated liver tables.
We lifted rusty old weights to max every session.
No one even said the word recovery, what the f**k is recovery?
No one ever complained about DOMS. If you dare say you where sore all you got was… “ha can’t stand the pace then, you great Gladys ”
No correct form or techniques, just lifting as much as we could cursing like TV chefs as we went dropping weights all over the place.
No chrome, no carpet, no drinks machines no music or bottles of bloody water everywhere.
Yes we trained like animals. Beast night was every night! We had a f**king ball!
What we did was ” Just put a little more coal on” every session. We never use the words but it was our progression every session.
Now a days with the Internet I ‘know’ a lot more now but is it better now because of all that information, shiny sterile gyms, good form, MFs with abs, big bi’s and damn skinny legs and all the must have supps? You know the answer its no.
So if you believe you can stand the pace, leave your water bottle in gym bag and join us with some for some “progression every session”.
It is really simple just turn the f**k up and lift heavy just for the hell of it.
